Shrine gates washed away by tsunami to return from U.S.
AOMORI, Japan - Toshimi Takahashi (R) shows where a shrine and its two "torii" gates used to stand before they were swept away in the 2011 tsunami in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, on Nov. 18, 2014. In the center is Sadafumi Uchiyama, a resident of Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon, who is arranging to return a battered torii piece bearing Takahashi's name as one of the donors that washed up on the Oregon coast. In the background is a new torii gate built after the tsunami disaster.
