NRA begins safety inspections of Monju reactor

TSRUGA, Japan - A senior official of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency addresses a meeting in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, on Dec. 3, 2014, to mark the start of quarterly safety inspections of its Monju prototype fast-breeder reactor by the Nuclear Regulation Authority. Operation of the Monju reactor has been effectively banned by the NRA since finding improperly inspected equipment in the past.
