Hanoi opens new bridge built with Japanese aid

      HANOI, Vietnam - Vietnamese legislators on June 27 elected Nguyen Minh Triet (R), Ho Chi Minh City's Communist Party chief, as the country's new president. Triet, 63, subsequently nominated Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung (L), 56, to become the next prime minister. Dung's nomination was confirmed later.
