Leading translators launch award through crowdfunding

TOKYO, Japan - Examples of foreign literature published in Japanese in 2014 that are eligible for nomination for the "Best Translation Award," newly established by several leading translators in Japan with money raised from crowdfunding, are shown on Jan. 5, 2015. Readers can nominate works for consideration via the award's website until Jan. 31 and the winner will be decided in April.

          HIROSHIMA, Japan - A series of books chronicling damage caused by the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima are shown on Jan. 6, 2015, in the western Japanese city.
