Amateur astronomer discovers record 100th supernova

TOKYO, Japan - Amateur astronomer Koichi Itagaki of Yamagata Prefecture, northern Japan, is shown in this undated photo. He discovered his 100th supernova on Dec. 13, 2014, the most by someone in Japan, by remote-controlling a telescope set up in Tochigi Prefecture northeast of Tokyo.
