Fujitsu develops ring-type device to write letters in the air

TOKYO, Japan - Fujitsu Ltd. demonstrates in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Jan. 13, 2015, a ring-type device it has developed to write letters in the air. The ring-like device equipped with a motion sensor detects the movement of a finger wearing it and sends the data wirelessly to a smartphone or computer.

            The connected sensors acquire analog data such as temperature, pressure, water level and flow rate as well as vibration. The data is sent via wireless LAN to an antenna several dozen meters away. The data is collected in the "Machine Dossier" cloud system. The data is displayed in an easy-to-understand manner using graphs and other data. Amazon's Amazon Web Services (AWS) is used as the system infrastructure. The data can be easily viewed on smartphones and other devices. The annual fee for using the system is 48,000 yen (excluding consumption tax) for each eight-point sensor. SEC of America (North Carolina), a wholly owned subsidiary in the U.S., develops and produces the system. Shinkawa Sensor Technology (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), a subsidiary in Japan, will develop and produce higher-specification non-contact vibration sensors.
