          NTT DoCoMo announced on the 18th that it will start commercial service of the 5th generation communication (5G) on the 25th. The "5G Gigaho" pricing plan will have unlimited data usage capacity for the time being, with a monthly fee starting at 4,480 yen (excluding consumption tax), 500 yen more than the current "Gigaho" 4G plan. The company aims to set up 20,000 5G base stations by fiscal 2021 and 20 million subscribers by fiscal 2011. 500 5G base stations will be installed within the month. The service will be available at 150 locations, including major stadiums such as Yokohama International Stadium and Hanshin Koshien Stadium, major transportation and tourist facilities such as Haneda International Airport, JR Osaka Station and Tokyo Sky Tree, and some docomo shops.             Foxter's Hybrid Image Processing System for AI Visual Inspection

            Foxter Corporation (Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture) will release in May a hybrid image processing system that combines Preferred Networks' (PFN, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) artificial intelligence (AI) visual inspection and conventional image processing methods.The company will market the system in Japan and China in cooperation with a subsidiary of the OPTEX Group, which is engaged in the manufacture of lighting for image processing, in terms of sales and service. The sales target is 200 units a year. Auto parts manufacturers and others have already begun to introduce the system on a trial basis.               Palantir Technologies (California) , a U.S. provider of big data analysis, announced on the 18th that it has established a joint venture with SOMPO Holdings (HD) (photo). On December 1, Palantir will provide a service to analyze all kinds of data within Japanese companies and public institutions, including Excel, e-mail, and call records. The data will be used to predict the possibility of free recalls of automobile parts and to detect money laundering. The new company, Palantir Technologies Japan (Chuo Ward, Tokyo), is 50% owned by Palantir and 50% by SOMPOHD. It will be capitalized at 100 million dollars (about 10.8 billion yen), and aims to achieve sales of 100 billion yen in the medium to long term.                 Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced on October 9 that Hiroto Nishikawa, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will resign on October 16, and Yasuhiro Yamauchi, Chief Operating Officer (COO), will take over as President and CEO on the same day. A maglev train service will start between Tokyo's Shinagawa Station and Nagoya in 2027.
