Beijing car ban begins in bid to improve air quality

BEIJING, China - A policeman pulls over cars with even-numbered plates in Beijing on Aug. 17 as a four-day Beijing car ban began the same day in a bid to improve air quality ahead of the Olympic games. Cars with even-numbered license plates were banned from the road Friday and this Sunday, while cars with odd-numbered plates cannot be driven on Saturday and Monday.
