Grape-picking in season at Kyoho grape farms in Wakayama

KAINAN, Japan - Grape-picking is now in season at Arida Kyoho Village, a farming co-operative in Aridagawa, Wakayama Prefecture organized by 28 grape farmers who grow mostly Kyoho grapes on 20 hectares of hilly grape farms. The grape-picking season for tourists begins on Aug. 19 and lasts through late September. According to Arida co-op officials, good weather this year has made Kyoho grapes sweeter. About 20,000 people visit the grape farms each year to pick Kyoho grapes.
