TOYAMA, Japan - "Black Croquette" (L) seasoned with soy sauce, black pepper and squid ink, and bite-size "White Croquette" (R) featuring the unique taste of shredded kombu, or edible kelp, are a big hit in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. The two types of croquettes, as pictured in December 2013, were developed by food consulting company DQ Solution to promote local Toyama tastes and won the grand prize at the 1st All Japan Croquette Festival in November 2013.
