Park honors Englishman's building of sailing ship 400 years ago

SHIZUOKA, Japan - A park opened Dec. 23 in Ito, Shizuoka Prefecture, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Englishman William Adams' building of Japan's first Western-style sailing ship. His bust (L) and a monument stand at the Anjin Memorial Park, named after his Japanese name Miura Anjin, in Ito, the place where the ship was constructed.
