Panel launched to consider female succession to throne

TOKYO, Japan - Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda tells reporters at the prime minister's office on Dec. 27 that the government has set up a panel of external experts to discuss the issue of imperial succession, apparently to consider the feasibility of allowing a woman to ascend the throne.
