Top of Cape Pakarang disappeared in quake-tsunami disaster

KHAOLAK, Thailand - Members of a Japanese team researching the effect of the Dec. 26 quake-tsunami disaster stand on Cape Pakarang in the resort town of Khaolak, southern Thailand, on Jan. 2. The top of the cape, located some 200 meters ahead of them, collapsed and disappeared as a result of the tsunamis. Black spots seen in the sea are the stumps of trees felled in the disaster.
