Local media reported on Tuesday that the national average prices reached 1.8 euros (1.91 U.S. dollars) for gasoline and 1.87 euros (1.98 U.S. dollars) for diesel respectively at self-service pumps, which marked an increase of more than 9 percent in both fuels in just a few days. In the first days of 2023, the national average price for full-service gasoline stood at 1.95 euros (2.07 U.S. dollars) per liter while that for full-service diesel stood at 2.02 euros (2.14 U.S. dollars) per liter. The expired discount was put in place in March 2022 to help combat a surge in fuel prices. Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Rome. (XHTV)
