The earthquake, which occurred at 17:07 (23:07 GMT), had its epicenter 2 kilometers east of the town of San Lorenzo de Ahuchapan (144 kilometers west of San Salvador) with a depth of 9 kilometers. According to reports from the General Directorate of Civil Protection of El Salvador, there were damages to several houses and structures in the area, in addition to a landslide in Las Chinamas on the border area with Guatemala.
