Spokesman for the Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage, Hakim al-Shammari, told Xinhua on Friday that "the museum used to close its doors on Fridays and Saturdays, but from today, the museum will also open every Friday to welcome Iraqi families and tourists free of charge, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m." He explained that for the rest of the days of the week, from Sunday to Thursday, the entry to the museum is at a symbolic price, which is 3,000 Iraqi dinars for each citizen and 25 U.S. dollars for a foreigner.
