The Portuguese government dismissed on Monday the former president of the airline TAP, Alexandra Reis, through an announcement by the Minister of Finance Fernando Medina, and the Minister of Infrastructure Joao Galamba.
The dismissal of the civil servant was announced at a press conference shortly after the disclosure of a report by the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), according to which the payment of compensation to Alexandra Reis was undue.
Alexandra Reis received compensation of 500,000 euros (535,000 U.S. dollars) even though she continued to work as Secretary of State for the Portuguese government after the resignation of TAP.
