According to data from the Bureau of Immigration, the number of foreign tourists who visited India in 2022 was 6.19 million, as compared to 1.52 million in the year 2021. This increase in foreign tourists is seen as a sign of revival after the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, India had seen 10.93 million foreign tourist arrivals in the year 2019. The Indian government has taken several initiatives to boost tourism and increase foreign tourist arrivals. The federal government has been providing financial assistance to local governments for the development of tourism-related infrastructure.
