This year's United Nations Chinese Language Day was marked around the world with various celebrations.
Since 2010, the UN has marked Chinese Language Day on April 20 over the language's contribution to the world while encouraging more people to learn it.
The Chinese language commemoration event was co-hosted on Wednesday by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in collaboration with the Chinese Mission to the African Union (AU) at the UN Conference Center in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital.
