The plum-headed parakeet (Psittacula cyanocephala) is a parakeet in the family Psittacidae. This brilliantly-colored parakeet is endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. The plum-headed parakeet is a mainly green parrot, 33 cm long with a tail up to 22 cm. Plum-headed parakeets are found in flocks, the males having a pinkish purple head and the females, having a grey head. They fly swiftly with twists and turns accompanied by their distinctive calls.       Long-brand Bushbrown Butterfly - Mycalesis Visala - Animal India

      Mycalesis visala, the Long-brand Bushbrown, is a species of satyrine butterfly found in South Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, and Peninsular Malaysia. It may include the Tamil Bushbrown as a subspecies. On the upperside, the wings are dull brown with an obscure yellow-ringed ocellus in space 2 of the forewing, and two obscure ocelli in spaces 2 and 3 of the hindwing. On the underside, both wings are pale brown in ground color and have a whitish post-discal band. There is a series of ringed ocelli in the submarginal area on both wings.                       On October 29, 2024, a group of Eupterote mollifera caterpillars, also known as hairy caterpillars, are observed on the trunks of a Moringa tree (Moringa oleifera) in Tehatta, West Bengal, India. The female Eupterote mollifera moth, a common pest specific to Moringa trees in the Indian subcontinent, lays her eggs in clusters on the tender leaves and stems, which hatch within 5-7 days. These gregarious caterpillars feed in groups, scraping the bark and foliage of Moringa trees, often leading to severe defoliation during heavy infestations. Covered in densely irritating and poisonous hairs, these caterpillars can cause skin irritation upon contact.
