Constitutional Tribunal To Decide On Legality Of Immunity Of War Crimes In Poland

The tenement house at Walicow 14 street, famous for its roll in battles during the Warsaw Uprising is seen on 23 May, 2023 in Warsaw, Poland. On Tuesday the Constitutional Tribunal postponed a case on concerning immunity of war crimes from foreign states. Should the tribunal decided to overturn the current law it would make it possible to start legal proceedings against a foreign state for war crimes. The ruling PiS party has been fervently pursuing reparations to the amount of 1.3 trillion Euros from Germany for World War II damages. This is despite previous arrangements made decades ago.
