The weather department said the average maximum temperature recorded this May was 36.8 degrees Celsius. The drop in the average maximum temperature was attributed to the excess rainfall the city received in May. According to IMD, only nine days in May saw maximum temperatures in Delhi exceed 40 degrees, with two days of heatwave conditions impacting specific areas of the national capital. Delhi witnessed a significant amount of rainfall of 111 mm this May, which is 262 percent higher than the long-term average of 30.7 mm. Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from New Delhi
