Police Station Houses Dozens Of Migrant Families - Chicago

NO FILM, NO VIDEO, NO TV, NO DOCUMENTARY - Carlos Ramirez and his wife Betzabeth Bracho make their bed before sleeping in the lobby of the District 5 police station on June 21, 2023, in Chicago, IL, USA. The two traveled from Venezuela seeking asylum and have been staying at the police station since arriving in Chicago in May. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot issued an emergency declaration on Tuesday after a surge of new migrant arrivals in the city, in hopes of getting federal and state money to help the city respond to the crisis. Hundreds of families have been living out of police stations and city buildings after Lightfoot said they were "inhumanely" bused to Chicago. Photo by Armando L.
