Guelaguetza Festival In Mexico City
Women and men from the Cananea folkloric ballet and other folkloric dance groups from Iztapalapa, Mexico City, are performing the fandango de las varitas on the eve of the Guelaguetza Festival in the State of Oaxaca, which represents the state's most important festival. The Guelaguetza has its origins in pre-Hispanic times, and it is worth mentioning that this festivity began with a ritual that was done to the ancient gods in a place called by the Zapotecs as Daninayaaloani or hill of beautiful view.
