Forest Fire In Canary Islands

This fire declared in the early hours of yesterday morning in an urban forest area in the municipality of Puntagorda already affects about 4,600 hectares and has burned 11 houses. In addition, the Emergency Coordination Center has announced the evacuation of more than 4,000 people from the municipalities of Tijarafe and Puntagorda, due to the advance of the fire. The Canary Islands Government has assumed the management of the emergency in application of the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Attention due to Forest Fires in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (INFOCA).           Forest Fire Devastates 2,000 Hectares - Spain

The forest fire declared yesterday, November 2, in the Valencian town of Montitxelvo has left 2,000 hectares burned and a difficult extinguishing situation due to strong winds. The fire has forced to evacuate about 850 people from several municipalities and urbanizations, including Ador, Vilallonga, Castellonet de la Conquesta, Terrateig and La Font d'En Carrós, and has confined Potries by smoke. Due to the impossibility for the aerial means to join the extinguishing work because of the wind, the presence of the UME and aerial means FOCA has been requested.
