Iran-Moharram, "Taziyeh" Religious Theatre Performance

Actors re-enact the 7th century battle of Kerbala during the ''Taziyeh'' religious theatre performance on Ashura on the tenth day of the Muslim holy month of Moharram in the city of Khomeyni Shahr which is also known as Sede, in the central district of Khomeyni Shahr County near of the city of Isfahan, 495 km (309 miles) south of Tehran, July 28, 2023. Ashura is a significant day in the Shi'ite Islamic calendar. It is observed to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, during the battle of Kerbala in the 7th century.
