Spanish Tourists Stranded In Ethiopia Arrive In The Country
Relatives welcome one of the tourists trapped in Ethiopia at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport, August 14, 2023, in Madrid (Spain). The 19 Spaniards who were trapped since August 2 in northern Ethiopia by an armed conflict between Ethiopian security forces and Fano militias, have arrived today in Spain. The group traveling with the Kananga travel agency was kept inside a hostel for 11 days and last Saturday they were transferred to a military base in the helicopter that rescued them. The same Saturday they flew from Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) to Istanbul (Turkey) and have arrived in Madrid and Valencia on commercial flights. Several of them will fly this afternoon on another flight to Barcelona. Photo by A. Perez Meca/Europa Press/ABACAPRESS.COM
