Japan begins releasing treated Fukushima water into sea
TOKYO, Japan - Video taken on Aug. 24, 2023, from a Kyodo News helicopter shows the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture, northeastern Japan. Japan started releasing treated radioactive water from the plant into the ocean earlier in the day amid lingering concerns among local fishermen and some neighboring countries about the environmental impact.The water discharge is expected to last around 30 years or more.
