Fishermen Celebrate Narali Poornima Festival
A child offers a coconut to the sea as part of religious rituals as the Hindu fisherman community celebrates the Hindu festival of Narali Poornima, along the shores of the Arabian sea, in Mumbai on August 30, 2023. Narali Poornima is an auspicious day, observed by the Hindu fisherman community of the western Indian state of Maharashtra when they offer coconut to Varuna, the Hindu deity of ocean and water, in order to seek blessings from him.
