JR Covers The Facade Of The Opera Garnier - Paris
Artist JR covers the facade of the Paris Opera with a new monumental work, Paris, France on September 6, 2023. As part of the restoration of the Palais Garnier, street artist JR was invited by the Opera national de Paris to paint a gigantic fresco on the scaffolding covering the monument. From September 6 to 25, 2023, the facade of the Opera, the temple of music and dance, will be transformed to reveal the entrance to an immense cavern opening onto a perspective of rock and light. An allusion to the romantic codes of the 19th century, but also to grand opera stage sets, the Napoleon III architectural elements seem caught in a double movement of time, ruins. A structure under construction, as evidenced by the numerous scaffolding structures present, a nod to the real and necessary work that physically supports this installation.
