The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Suqian Section of Cargo Volume Increased

SUQIAN, CHINA - SEPTEMBER 12, 2023 - Cargo ships travel along the Suqian section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Suqian, Jiangsu province, China, Sept 12, 2023. According to the statistics of Suqian Shipping Center, from January to August 2023, the Zaohe locks, Suqian locks, Lioujian locks and Siyang locks on the Suqian section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal have been safely opened for a total of 93,024 times, and 20,479 ships (145,078 barges) and 231,272 freighters have passed through. The shipping volume reached 671.3 million tons, an increase of 35.6 million tons, or 5.6%.
