STORYLINE:
Spanish imports of natural gas from Russia have doubled so far this year compared to the same eight-month period in 2022 that began with the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Enagas, a leading natural gas transmission company in Spain, said in its latest bulletin on Sept. 8 that Russian gas accounted for 19.7 percent of all gas imports in the country, compared to 10.9 percent the previous year.
Earlier this summer, Russian gas imports hit a peak of 27.6 percent, almost five times the 5.8 percent registered in January 2022 before the start of the conflict.
