"During its 45th session, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee officially approved the inclusion of Djerba Island on its list during a meeting held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia," said a ministry statement. As the largest island off North Africa, Djerba is known for its religious diversity and is influenced by Berber, Arab, Jewish and African cultures.
