The opening ceremony was attended by Oil Minister Javad Owji and his deputies, lawmakers as well as foreign ambassadors in Tehran. A total of 560 domestic firms as well as 210 foreign companies have taken part in the event, according to a report published on the exhibition's website. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the oil minister said the petrochemical sector is a key industry of the country, which generated 16 billion U.S. dollars in export revenues in the previous Iranian calendar year which ended on March 20.
