An elliptical crater basin is seen in the Gobi in Hami, Xinjiang province, China, October 15, 2023. Its shape is a standard oval with a long half-axis of about 5 km and a short half-axis of about 3 km. According to geological data, the crater left by the Carboniferous volcanic eruption in the Elliptic basin is the outer layer of the elliptic magmatic rock and the mountain is the remnant of the crater, and the interior is distributed with large and small jet cones and black and metallic pyroclastic rocks everywhere.
