Advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for September, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were 704.9 billion U.S. dollars, up 3.8 percent year over year. Total sales for the July through September period were up 3.1 percent from the same period a year ago. The July to August percent change was revised from up 0.6 percent to up 0.8 percent. Retail trade sales were up 0.7 percent from August 2023, and up 3.0 percent above last year.
