Spanish Royals Arrive In Arroes

Queen Letizia on her arrival at the presentation of the Exemplary Town of Asturias Award 2023, on October 21, 2023, in Arroes, Villaviciosa, Asturias (Spain). The parishes of Arroes, Pion and Candanal, located in the council of Villaviciosa, receive this year's Exemplary Village of Asturias Award, for having managed to preserve a diversified economy based on local resources and that has allowed a recovery of the social base thanks to the growth and rejuvenation of its population. The Exemplary Town of Asturias Award has been given annually since it was first awarded in 1990 to "the town, village, population center, landscape space or human group of the Principality of Asturias that has stood out in a remarkable way in the defense and conservation of its natural and environmental surroundings, its historical, cultural or artistic heritage, in initiatives of economic and social promotion or in the realization of communal works or other outstanding manifestations of solidarity".
