STORYLINE:
A spoon-billed sandpiper with Russian markings on its feet was recently spotted in the shoal area of the southern Chinese port city of Fangchenggang.
According to birdwatchers, this rare migratory shorebird, code-named 8V, has been choosing Fangchenggang for wintering for five consecutive years.
Meanwhile, another spoon-billed sandpiper code-named 0L has been spotted here for two consecutive years.
Spoon-billed sandpipers are listed as "critically endangered" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and are under state protection in China.
