STORYLINE:
According to the latest data released by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), India's unemployment rate has hit a two-year high.
The overall unemployment rate in India rose to 10.05 percent in October, a significant increase from 7.09 percent in September, marking the highest level since May 2021. Rural areas have been severely impacted, with the rural unemployment rate surging to 10.82 percent in October, up from 6.2 percent in the previous month.
One key factor contributing to the rural unemployment crisis is the weakest monsoon rains in five years, which have led to reduced farming output.
