US Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony - Washington
The Lumberjack Express from Richwood High School in Richwood, West Virginia performs in the frigid cold wind during the Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony on the West Lawn of the US Capitol in Washington, DC, USA, Tuesday, November 28, 2023. U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree is a 63-foot Norway spruce from the Greenbriar Ranger District in the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. The Monongahela National Forest was the first national forest to provide the People’s Tree on behalf of the Forest Service in 1970, and again in 1976. The tree was named “wa’feem’tekwi” by the Shawnee Tribe and means “Bright Star” in Shawnee. Photo by Rod Lamkey/CNP/ABACAPRESS.COM
