(231213) -- BEIJING, Dec. 13, 2023 (Xinhua) -- Students lay flowers to mourn the victims of the Nanjing Massacre on the occasion of the 10th National Memorial Day at the Exhibition Hall of Evidence of Crime Committed by Unit 731 of the Japanese Imperial Army in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Dec. 13, 2023. In 2014, China's top legislature designated Dec. 13 as the national memorial day for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre, which took place when Japanese troops captured the city on Dec. 13, 1937. The Japanese invaders brutally killed approximately 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers in over six weeks, marking one of the most barbaric episodes of World War II. (Xinhua/Zhang Tao)
