Girls And Boys Deliver Letters To "Wise Men" In Mexico City
Dozens of girls and boys are visiting the facilities of the Postal Palace in the Zocalo of Mexico City, delivering letters to the Three Wise Men, Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthasar, who ''are receiving a response from the Star of Bethlehem, which will be delivered to the doors of their homes by the Mexican Postal Service.'' According to belief, the Gospel of Saint Matthew mentions that some ''wise men'' from the East were guided by a star to worship the newly born king of the Jews. The names Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthasar first appeared in the famous 6th-century mosaic in the Basilica of Saint Apollinaris the New in the Italian city of Ravenna.
