STORYLINE:
A monumental structure was unveiled in the Iranian capital Tehran on Wednesday to commemorate the Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
The unveiling ceremony of an 8-meter-tall metallic structure was held at Tehran's central Valiasr Square ahead of the Day of Gaza, which is annually marked by Iranians on Jan. 19 to commemorate the Palestinians' resistance during Israel's war on the coastal enclave in 2008-2009.
The Palestinian students attending the ceremony sent doves flying into the sky to symbolize the liberation of the people of Gaza.
The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to more than 24,000 since its outbreak on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Gaza-based Health Ministry.
