Poland Oil Giant Corruption
An office of the Polish oil refiner and petrol retailer Orlen is seen in Warsaw, Poland on 18 January, 2024. On Thursday anti-corruption authority CBA entered the company's headquarters and searched computers and offices of management. The search was conducted on authority of the regional prosecutor in Gdansk. The Polish state owns a 49.9 percent stake in the company and during the previous 8 year rule of the Law and Justice party many have accused Orlen as serving loyalists as a vehicle for self-enrichment. In 2022 Orlen reported a revenue of nearly 60 billion Euros making it the largest commercial enterprise in the CEE region. (Photo by Jaap Arriens/NurPhoto)
