Anti-AfD Protest - Berlin
The alliance #ZusammenGegenRechts, led by 'FridaysForFuture,' organized a demonstration titled 'Defend Democracy' at the Bundestag in Berlin on Sunday, January 21, 2024 in Berlin, Germany. Civil society stakeholders intended to use this event to express their opposition to right-wing extremism, advocate for the protection of democracy, and protest against the deportation plans of the AfD. The alliance encompasses diverse organizations, including social associations, climate movements, youth parties, student committees, and cultural institutions. At the end of the demonstration, organizers on stage announced that an estimated 350,000 people participated in the event. The area from the Platz vor dem Reichstag to Hauptbahnhof, the other side to the Brandenburger Tor, and Unter den Linden to the Berliner Dom was filled with demonstrators.
