Nepal's Red God Returns Back To Patan

Devotees are offering prayers to Lord Macchindranath, also known as the Red God of Lalitpur, as the deity is being taken to Macchindra Bahal in Patan from Bungmati. This procession follows the tradition of the god residing in Bungmati for half of the year and in Patan for the other half. Following Nepal's longest chariot festival of Rato Macchindranath, the lord of rain and harvest, the idol is taken to Bungmati to rest and is then brought back to Patan.
