STORYLINE:
Retail inflation in India eased to 5.10 percent during January 2024, from 5.69 percent in December 2023, the federal government on Monday said.
The retail inflation in January 2023 stood at 6.52 percent.
The retail price data were collected from selected 1,114 urban markets and 1,181 villages across the country through personal visits by government officials on a weekly roster.
The fall in retail inflation in the country was attributed to a decline in food prices. Food inflation in January stood at 8.30 percent, compared to 9.53 percent registered in December 2023.
