Ukrainian servicemen are carrying the coffin with the body of German combat medic Diana Savita Wagner, known by the call sign 'Snake', who volunteered for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was killed by Russian troops at the front in eastern Ukraine. They are taking part in a farewell ceremony at the Mikhailovskiy Cathedral in Kyiv, Ukraine, on February 14, 2024, amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The 36-year-old German combat medic, who had arrived in Ukraine before the start of the Russian large-scale invasion, fell in love with Ukrainian culture and traditions, learned the Ukrainian language, and aspired to become Ukrainian, according to local media reports. Wagner, originally from Germany, volunteered for the International Legion and served as a combat medic in the assault squadron of the Carpathian Sich battalion.
