Kenduren Festival In Indonesia

People are carrying piles of durians at the festival called ''Kenduren Wonosalam'' in Jombang, Indonesia, on March 3, 2024. The thorny fruits are being driven around the village before being thrown to the waiting crowds. Participants, usually in groups, are climbing a structure made from durian fruit. They are collecting as many fruits as possible and throwing them to friends in the crowd below, who are trying to catch these hard, heavy, and spiky fruits. Those who catch a durian are eating it on the spot or taking it home. The festival itself is a form of gratitude during the harvest season. (Photo by Suryanto Putramudji/NurPhoto)
