Tawur Kesanga Ritual Ahead Nyepi Celebration

Balinese Hindus are performing worship as they participate in the Tawur Kesanga ritual at Parahyangan Agung Pasundan Temple in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on March 10, 2024. During the Tawur Kesanga ritual, Balinese Hindus are worshipping and parading Ogoh-ogoh, effigies that symbolize demons or negative traits. These statues will be burned as a symbol of the triumph of goodness. The Tawur Kesanga ritual is the final series of rituals before Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, which will be celebrated this year on March 11. (Photo by Aditya Irawan/NurPhoto)
